I bit back a grin, amused that I’d reverted back to “Sentinel.” I was “Merit” when Ethan needed something, “Sentinel” when he was responding to my snark. “Whatever the source, Sentinel, we have the information now. Things change, they progress, but the idea is the same, isn’t it? Well, in book two, I found that not only did the intensity increase in the severity with which Merit and her vampire brethren were threatened, but also, her attraction to the head vampire, Ethan, became such a tangible thing I choked on it. Like with all series I read, it’s hard to write review after review for the same series with the same characters. The Last Motel is fun a thrilling, white-knuckled suspense read. Matthew Revert and I wrote and recorded a soundtrack. We created a back-story for the ‘production’ and an IMDB entry. So, we created a cool-looking cover, reminiscent of the classic low-budget posters from the b-grade horror movies of the ’80s. We decided to create the new edition as if it was a movie tie-in to some old – and largely forgotten – Ozploitation flick from the early ’80s. We thought that we should have fun with it. When the rights reverted back to me in 2009 I approached the good people at LegumeMan Books about publishing a new edition. ![]() ![]() Wearing gigantic sunglasses, Jack sat shotgun, but he didn’t really explain things to Milo.
